A New Life

It’s a rainy March 1st, not a very joyful beginning of spring but it’s a great day to take another step towards a new life. I left the office a few minutes ago and I escaped to a café nearby. The cappuccino is bitter, but having this extra time for myself is sweet.

I’ve been working in the same company for the last 12 years. Over the years projects started and ended, clients changed, colleagues came and went but many things stayed the same.

I’m preparing for massive changes in the next few months. At the end of April I will leave the company that I created together with my associates, sell most of my stuff and begin travelling around the world together with my fiancée. On a motorcycle! Continue reading →

Writing again

It has been a few years since I last wrote a blog post, and here I am again. I want it to be different this time, I plan to keep at it. Time will tell.

Here are the reasons why I am doing this.

  • I want to address my fear of criticism, of making a mistake, or of saying something stupid
  • I want to become more self aware, by writing my thoughts and experiences down and review in a few months or years what I was doing, thinking about and focusing on
  • I would like to have more connections with people all over the world with shared interests
  • I would also like a deeper and more frequent connection with the ones with whom I don’t interact so often at the moment.

I will review the layout and design of my blog soon. Should you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments below.

Start from the start

We often focus too much on next item on our to-do list, on what we are asked to do this week. To make sure we are on the right track we must first find out where we’re going.

Vishen Lakhiani of mindvalley asks 3 great questions:

Play the game, write down the answers to the questions and please leave a comment with just one of the points you wrote down. Mine is “I want to hold my child in my arms”. What’s yours?

No New Year’s Resolutions

New Year's ResolutionsIt’s that time of the year again. Holiday cheer, presents and carols. That time when we look back at at what we accomplished and recap. But even more so at what we failed to do and feel guilty for failing to

  • lose that weight
  • go to the gym
  • read (more)
  • learn that extra skill
  • give or receive more feedback
  • express gratitude

And yet somehow we think that if we write down a list and force ourselves to do it we will do it and stick to it. What’s the difference? I’ll start

  • on Monday
  • 1st of next month
  • January 1st

It never works, at least not for me. And believe me, I tried.

This year

I will take my time to recap, celebrate my successes, analyse my failures and let go. No resolutions, no homework.

How about you? Will you make resolutions this year? Leave your comments below.

My gift to you

A week ago I started this adventure and I wanted to find a way to express my gratitude to you wonderful people, my fellow travelers. And since you gave me your time, attention and support, either by your feedback or kind encouragements, I decided to pay you in kind.

My gift to you is time and attention. I think they are some of the most precious things we can give and receive these days, when we are always running around like headless chicken, always against the clock and thinking mostly of ourselves.

26 of you subscribed and I thank you for your trust and interest. Here’s my plan:

you must decide how you will use my time and attention. We can either spend it together live or via Skype / Google Hangouts, etc. or you can “forward” your gift to someone else.

We can chat about anything you like or if it’s a live encounter it can even get physical. 😛 I can help you move your furniture or your shopping. If there’s anything I can help you with and it’s reasonable, I’m there.

Let me know if you need help or advice regarding:

  • business management
  • entrepreneurship
  • time management
  • desktop publishing
  • IT related problems
  • website development or configuration
  • search engine optimization
  • photography

I don’t consider myself an expert in any of the items above, but I think I can be of help in all of them. I hope most of you will collect their prizes and I hope at least some of you will think my present is useful and at least interesting.

If you just want to hang out and chat, that’s fine by me.

Should you prefer to forward your gift to someone else, I would be more than happy to volunteer my time and effort to a worthwhile person, cause or organization.

Please send me your ideas via email, Facebook, Twitter or Google+ message. Of course, this only applies to my subscribers. 🙂

I will select some of the best ideas and present blog about them, with your permission, of course. I’m really excited to hear your ideas.

I am really interested in your feedback, please leave your comments below. What do you think of my present? Please leave your comment below.
